Last night was the last race of the series for the season and General Truce started favourite. From the inside gate General Truce jumped well. Jockey Ben Knobel box seated the 4yo behind speedsters Fab Favola, Waltzes and Queen Delight. In the straight Queen Delight and Fab Fevol tired. Ben had the opportunity to take an inside run. But he had been instructed not to, and so he took the Brief Truce gelding around horses and set out after Waltzes who had kicked clear. It was a tough run and an excellent ride. It was only in the very last stride that General Truce got to the lead. Waltzes was game in defeat. Tramuntana, carrying weight took the inside run to flash home for third.

Rapidement had won earlier in the season, so the win was Ricky Maund’s third in the series. It also meant that he had won the BT50 ute.

General Truce has now won on five occasions with earnings of more than $480,000. General Truce was bred at Lauriston and is from General Nediym mare, General Resolve.
