Al Jandar wins Benjeroop Cup

Consistent Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm bred Al Jandar was a deserved winner in the Benjeroop Gold Cup over 1200 metres at Cranbourne today. Settling a touch better than midfield, Al Jandar edged up to the two leaders at the turn, and then quickened after straightening. He held off the late finishing pair Mikey’s Magic and Terpsichore to win by half a length.

Al Jandar has been racing in tremendous form during this preparation. In his last six starts he has won twice, and placed on three occasions. The win is his career fourth, taking his total earnings to just under $125,000.

Al Jandar was bred at Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm and was purchased by Robbie Griffiths for owner Rosemary Thomson at Inglis’ Premier yearling sale in 2009 for $27,000.
