Velonski has a Big Heart

Last Saturday Velonski jumped well, and Jamie Mott positioned the gelding into the box seat. After straightening Jamie peeled Velonski out behind race leader Chosen Moment, before accelerating to the line. Velonski won the 2yo Moonee Valley 1200 metre race by 0.8 length and picked up $63,700.

It was Velonski’s second win from four starts. He had finished third in his two other starts. Cox Plate winning trainer Greg Eurell explained that the 2yo may have been four from four if he had been clean away in his other two starts.

Velonski was purchased by Shelly Hancox in session two of Melbourne’s Premier yearling sale just over a year ago for $30,000. He has now earned more than $83,000 and is one of six horses that make up Hancox Racing Syndicate Number 5.

Velonski, who was bred at Lauriston is by Falvelon and the first foal out of Encosta De Lago mare Skidoodle.
