Cavallo Nero Wins On Debut

Lauriston presented a striking black colt at the Adelaide Magic Millions yearling sale in 2010. The colt received plenty of interest from prospective buyers and that was reflected in the sales ring where the hammer came down at $60,000.

Trained by Nick Harnett, the three year old stepped out for the first time at Cranbourne over 1100 metres. Cavallo Nero demonstrated that he wasn’t just a good looker. He could run as well. Box seated but held up at the vital stages, Peter Mertens finally found room for the gelding and he pounced to win by 0.8 lengths.

Cavello Nero is by Bianconi from Success Express mare Cica Cica. He became the forty fourth individual winner bred at Lauriston.
