Zofabird’s trainer and owner, Emma Hubbard, selected Justin Potter to ride the three year old filly in the 1100 metre Penola maiden. Settling back on the fence, Potter guided the filly along the inside. Zofabird gave Midnite Crusade a length start in the straight. Zofabird proved too strong and wore the favourite down to won in a photo.
Zofabird’s win on Sunday was well deserved. She had displayed form in her last three starts and in particular running second to Kate’s Dream in her previous run. Kate’s Dream won again last Wednesday.
Zofabird is by Danbird out of Lauriston’s mare Zofagal. She is the 27th individual winner bred at Lauriston.
