Three in Four Days

Yesterday, Verridon became the third Lauriston bred race horse to salute the judge in just four days when he won the $25,000 Class 5 1200 metre race at the Sunshine Coast.

The early pace suited Verridon who settled toward the rear of the field. Scott Seamer brought the grey wide at the turn and perhaps to the better part of the track. Verridon grabbed the lead and was strong on the line to win by half a length in front of a wall of horses. It was the Eric Ropiha trained gelding’s second start after a twenty week spell  and follows a string of races at city level.

Verridon, who is by Statue Of Liberty from Sea Zephyr was bred at Lauriston. He was sold at Queensland’s Magic Millions sale to owners Shirley and Rowan Gordon for $5,500. He has now won six races and $68,000.

Verridon’s win yesterday follows the success of recent Lauriston bred winners, 2yo Colonel Greer in New Zealand on Saturday and 3yo Al Jandar at Sale on Thursday.
