Iron Lotus Lands Inglis Red Centre 2YO Classic

Iron Lotus (2f Turffontein x Blazing Glory by Bianconi) was the only filly in the Inglis Red Centre 2YO Classic at Alice Springs earlier today. After beginning quickly apprentice Ethan Brown ensured she controlled the race to the turn before giving the geldings the slip. From that moment she was never in doubt winning the feature 2yo race by 3.8 lengths. Race Replay: Race 3 Alice Springs 01 May 17

It was the second 2yo classic event won by a Lauriston bred filly in less than two months. Undoubtable Miss (2f Not A Single Doubt x Spy Catcher by Tobougg) claimed Adelaide’s $200,000 Magic Millions 2yo Classic during March for trainer Robbie Griffiths.

Today’s win was Iron Lotus’ second career victory from just three starts and not the first Lisa Lefoe trained 2yo Alice Springs winner bred at Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm. Lisa had previously prepared Powerful Pegasus who won his first two outings as a 2yo.

Last racing season Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm bred Finke, who is also by Turffontein, was awarded Northern Territory’s horse of the year.
