Jocasta Impressive in Maiden Victory

jocastageelong_630x368rpJocasta’s (3f Choisir x Saratoga) debut run over 1,000 metres last month at Cranbourne was described by the race caller as an “eye catcher”.  Although well beaten she finished impressively after a slow start.

The Corstens team chose to step her out to 1,200 in a Geelong maiden last Tuesday for her next start.

Daniel Moor did not push the 3yo filly from the wide gate and positioned her toward the back to finally settle three wide with cover in running. Rounding the field after the turn Jocasta let down with an encouraging burst of speed to win by a length.

Daniel explained after the race: “I decided to sit off them early and let things unfold, just to keep out of that strong wind. Once we cornered, I knew we would win easily and she didn’t let me down. She is a nice filly who put her rivals to bed in a few strides.”
