Rapid’s Flemington Fling

Rapidement and Tilly after the race

Rapidement’s first look at the Flemington straight was from the inside gate at the 1,000 metre mark at 12:35pm today.  After jumping positively jockey Dean Yendall took a hold to find a spot behind the leaders. The mare travelled comfortably to the 300 metre mark where she was momentarily held up for room. Dean knew the mare’s mettle and pushed her forward. Rapidement responded, punching through to find space. She was strong to the line.

Rapidement won by ¾ of a length from Legion’s Belle with Flourishing a further two lengths behind.

“It was a great ride and a gutsy win” commented trainer Ricky Maund after the race.

It was Dean’s second win aboard the mare at city grade.
