Damien Thornton allowed Polinelli (4g Hard Spun – Inthemix), pictured as a yearling, to settle at the rear of the eleven horse field in the fifth at Werribee over a mile last Thursday. Damien was patient to the turn. Then, threading a passage between horses steadily made ground on the lead group. Polinelli pounced on the leader in the closing stages to win by half a length.

It was Polinelli’s third win from just three starts as a four year old for trainer Glenn Thornton. The run was similar to his previous start when he won at Kilmore.
