Cailin Miss Impresses in Oaklands Plate

Caitlin MissTrainer Mick Price thought highly enough of Cailin Miss to send her to Adelaide to contest the Listed Oaklands plate for 2yos over a mile yesterday in just her second start.

Cailin Miss was slow away. During the early stages Dean Yendall was happy to settle her at the rear of the field. At the 600 metre mark Dean began to push her into the race and Cailin Miss responded circling the field. After straightening she loomed up to the odds on race favourite Royal Standing and the two looked set for a competitive battle down the straight. In the final stages Cailin Miss drew away to win by more than two lengths with Light Up Manhattan another 3 lengths away in third. The win earned the filly black type.  Race 3 replay Morphettville 03/05/14

After the race Mick Price indicated that the filly would be spelled and set for the VRC Oaks.

Lot 761,Domesday x Partygoer_10-02-2013_GEN_Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm__993Cailin Miss by Domesday from Mossman mare Partygoer was bred by Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm and sold to Mick Price at Inglis’ Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in 2013. She became the third city winner from that draft. Previously 2yos Barnato (Redoute’s Choice x Glimmers) and Ms Mazetti (Lohnro x Amarazeti) had won at Singapore and Caulfield respectively.

Cailin Miss’s dam Partygoer is in foal to Choisir.

Cailin Miss was the first Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm bred yearling purchased by Mick Price. At this year’s Sydney Easter sale Mick purchased two from Lauriston’s draft. They were the More Than Ready filly from Amarazetti (a half sister to Ms. Mazetti) and a Starcraft colt out of Acceleration (a half brother to recent winner Leadfoot).
