Cosmic Kheleyf
Cosmic Kheleyf (pictured at Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm’s 2012 yearling parade) was sent out at bolter odds in a small field of 3yos over 1,000 metres at Morphettville yesterday. After settled at the rear of the field jockey Simon Price took an inside run to move up behind the leaders. When there was no further room on the rail the big black gelding muscled his way off the fence to tackle the front runners. Extending his neck he closed quickly to win in the final stride. In just his second race start Cosmic Kheleyf became the sixty-sixth winner bred by Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm. He was among Lauriston’s Magic Millions Adelaide yearling draft in 2012 and purchased by Oakbank trainer Scott Trenowden for $27,000. Cosmic Kheleyf is by Kheleyf from Cosmic Express and appears to have a bright future.
