Trainer Neville Saunders entered Lonaro in a Class 3 1350metre race at Doomben last Wednesday. From gate four Jacque Brown gave him the perfect ride. She positioned the gelding beautifully on the fence slightly better than midfield in running and after turning peeled out behind the faltering leader to claim the lead. Lonaro was still strong on the line winning by 0.8 length. It was the gelding’s first city win and followed a third at his previous start at Toowoomba. It was his fourth career win and took his earnings to more than $40,000.
Neville praised the ride of the inform apprentice after the race. “It was a faultless ride by Jacque. Lonaro only had to go around one horse”.
Lonaro is by Australia’s reigning champion sire and champion race horse – Lohnro.
Due to the pending restructure of Lauriston’s operations in Toowoomba, Lonaro is being offered for sale.
