Velonski was rigorously ridden from the gates by Chris Symonds to take a forward position in the first at Werribee today. He may be small, he had plenty in reserve at the business end. He won by more than a length over the 1000 metre trip. It was the Falvelon colt’s second start, after he missed the kick, but making up late ground at Bendigo to finish third on debut.
The two year old was purchased by Shelly Hancox from Lauriston Thoroughbred’s 2011 Premier yearling draft at Melbourne for $30,000.
Velonski was
bred at Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm and becomes the forty seventh individually bred winner from the farm. He is the first foal out of Encosta De Lago mare, Skidoodle.
